Common van break in methods & protection solutions

Midlands Van Security are here Protecting your goods, your vehicle, and your livelihood.

Door Drilling (spiking)

This is pretty much the most common method used by criminals to gain entry which we see on a daily basis and is responsible for around 70 percent of all van break in events.

Door Spike attacks are now the most common method of attack we see. Door panels have been made thinner by vehicle manufacturers to save weight and meet vehicle emissions standards, however the consequence of this is that vans are now easier to break into.

The internal handle on any van is designed to open even when the door is locked, for safety reasons, should someone get trapped in the back. The thieves drill the door from the outside, as close to the opposing latch area as possible, or at the internal handle and pull the cable to open the door.

If your looking for a fast, cost effective way to cover up damage of an existing break in and get back out on the road in a van that's more secure than it was prior to the event, then we would HIGHLY recommend the van is installed with these L4V hardened steel external and internal latch shields. Available in black or brushed stainless steel finish, for the side doors and the rear doors, these shields give protection to the part of the latch mechanism inside the side load door, by shielding the number 1 area criminals target, the gap where the shield stops and the edge of the door starts. Our shields surround the face of the latch mechanism and secures into place with the existing latch bolts, which we remove and replace with anti tamper bolts.

A must have pair of products to protect the load area.

Door Peeling (Peel & Steal)

The brutal “peel and steal” break in attack method used by criminals has become a common method for thieves to quickly break into vans to obtain valuables using brute force.

These anti-peel kits are a tried and tested male and female type interlocking design that protect vans from this common method of attack.

When combined with a high mounted hook lock, these anti-peel kits substantially increase the durability of your van’s side load and rear barn doors.

Available for both rear barn and side load doors, the anti-peel kits are designed to work in both high and low positions. This helps reduce peel attacks from the top and bottom of the doors.

The kits use a durable hardened stainless steel construction with a powder coated finish to maintain a professional and discrete look.

Our professional engineers can install these anti-peel kits quickly and securely, minimising downtime and disruption to your business.
